A special moment

27 September 2016

After smashing home his 100th career goal at Ewood Park, Steven Fletcher says it was a special moment for himself, the team and the fans behind the goal.

The in-form striker controlled superbly from a Barry Bannan feed before taking a touch and rifling into the back of the net.

The Scot celebrated his goal with the 2,700+ army of Wednesdayites and after the game he said:

“It was nice obviously to get the win and for myself to get the goal was a good feeling.

“I was screaming for the ball, it sat up nicely for me and I just hit it. When it went in I ran straight over to the fans and it was a nice moment for everyone.

“They travelled in their numbers and were superb all night.”

Assessing the Owls’ first win on the road in 2016/17, he added:

“I thought first half we were getting into the game, we got the goal and from there I thought we took control.

“We knew we would come under pressure at the end and they would come at us but I’m happy for the boys at the back that we got the clean sheet.

“We worked hard and deserved the three points.”
