It’s fifth v sixth in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday at Hillsborough.

The Owls host Reading in a crucial top six clash and Carlos Carvalhal says his players will be out to issue a fast reaction after defeat at Aston Villa.

With just nine games to go, Friday’s battle under the S6 lights could prove highly influential in terms of the final league standings.

Victory for Wednesday would move Carlos’ side up to fifth and he said:

“We are concentrated now on this game on Friday, we will try to recover the maximum players we can that missed the last game.

“But we will be strong. It’s a massive game to us, our players will react because we are not happy after the last game.

“But we will react very fast.

“We don’t want excuses, on Friday we will be strong. We are still running in the competition to achieve a good position.”

Following the weekend clash with Villa, Carlos issued updates on Tom Lees, Glenn Loovens and Fernando Forestieri.

“Tom Lees started training with the team last Friday, he didn’t feel any reaction so we will do normal training during the week and let’s see if he is available to us.

“Glenn felt a problem on the back but we have good expectations for the next game.

“Fernando felt a pain on the knee, he wasn’t available to play last game. We will see if he can recover or not to Friday.

“If they don’t recover, we have solutions to play. We don’t want excuses. Friday, we will be there.”

The Owls’ pre-match press conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday lunchtime at Middlewood Road.
