All in our hands

24 March 2017

Despite losing a close encounter with Charlton last Monday, the destiny of the Owls’ Under-23s remains in their own hands.

Wednesday went down 2-1 in the capital to a side Neil Thompson described as “the best we have played this season.”

But the Owls’ coach is confident that with four games to go, his table-toppers can see out the season at the summit.

Thompson said: “This was a really good game for us because Charlton are at the top of the Southern League and I thought they were the best we have played this season.

“We had a young team out there and to be honest, it was a close game that we might have taken something from.

“After they scored we got back in the game through Lewis Price but they scored the winner from our corner, from which they countered well.

“But the good thing is that everything remains in our own hands.

“We are six points clear of Hull so we are in good shape and ready to go again when we play Cardiff at home on Monday.”
