Carlos calls for Owls efficiency

19 September 2016

Carlos Carvalhal says Wednesday must continue to create the chances but improve their efficiency in front of goal.

Having defeated Wigan and Bristol City ahead of the Saturday’s defeat at Birmingham, the head coach wants to see more of the Owls’ positive offensive work rewarded with goals.

Although Wednesday went ahead through Gary Hooper in the second half at St Andrew’s, the Blues hit back to punish the Owls for missed chances and Carlos said:

“We must continue to do our work, try to do better offensive efficiency in the next games and the things that are natural will come to us.

“We will win games where we don’t create as many chances but take a 1-0.

“This isn’t happening at the moment, we are creating a lot of chances but we are not scoring the goals in the percentage we expect.”

The Owls are back in action on Saturday looking for a third straight home win over Nottingham Forest and Carlos continued:

“We are playing very good football on the pitch, we try to press the opponent and try to create clear chances to goal.

“We are frustrated but not unhappy and we are proud of the players and their attitude.”
