EFL showcase the power of football

25 April 2017

More than 1m people are now participating in football-led community programmes and activities every season.

On Tuesday, all 72 EFL clubs will come together for the EFL’s Community Day of Action to highlight and showcase the impact of this work in towns and cities nationwide.

EFL clubs use the power of football to have a positive effect on thousands of people’s lives in the UK every day, helping participants to improve their lives with programmes focused on health and wellbeing, education, community outreach and much more.

As part of the EFL’s Community Day of Action, Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme will be running a FREE open access Youth Club for young people across Sheffield aged 13-19 years at Hillsborough from 7.00pm.

Isobel Dunn, Premier League Co-ordinator, said: “By using the power of football we are able to provide the young people of Sheffield with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

“The Sheffield Wednesday brand helps us engage with young people, providing them with a safe space they can socialise, gain knowledge on health and wellbeing and participate in different sporting opportunities.”
