Emanuelson eager to get started

6 September 2016

New Owls signing Urby Emanuelson has told swfc.co.uk he is eager to get started in the next step of his career at Hillsborough.

The versatile Dutchman completed his switch to the Owls on Tuesday and now looks forward to the challenge ahead in the Championship.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It feels great to sign for a big club like Sheffield Wednesday and I’m very happy with the opportunity. I’m hoping to show my quality and help the team do well this season.

“I’m looking forward to getting started and I know it will be a long season and that’s exactly what I need.”

A product of Ajax’s youth system and making 171 first team appearances for the Dutch side, Emanuelson moved to AC Milan in 2011 to help the Italian giants secure their first Serie A title in seven years.

He added: “The Championship is new to me but I know it is a long season, with lots of games and a lot of competition. It is a tough division but I hope I can help the team and show the fans what I'm all about.

“So far, I’ve got a really positive vibe from the club and everyone seems friendly and welcoming and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Emanuelson joins his fellow countryman Glenn Loovens at Hillsborough and he continued:

“I’ve spoken to Glenn and he’s told me lots of good things about the club. I’ve heard positive things about the group who are working together for the same aims - I’m sure I’ll fit in well.”
