Sam Hutchinson has signed a new contract with Sheffield Wednesday that will keep the former Chelsea man at Hillsborough until summer 2020.
The 27-year-old has been outstanding in the Owls’ engine room for much of this season having initially impressed in central defence.
His passionate, committed and all-action displays have seen Hutchinson win the fans’ Player of the Month vote on no less than three occasions during the campaign so far.
Hutchinson has featured in 23 of the Owls’ 25 Championship fixtures this term and been key in Wednesday’s rise into the top six, where they sit heading into Saturday’s crucial clash with Huddersfield.
Having signed for the Owls on loan from Chelsea in February 2014, fan favourite Hutchinson made the move permanent in July of that year.
In total he has made 83 appearances for Wednesday, scoring four goals along the way.
