The Owls and Huddersfield are set to meet again on Wednesday night at Hillsborough following today’s 0-0 draw in the play-off semi final first leg.

Ahead of the all-important second clash in midweek, Carlos Carvalhal has recalled the influence of the supporters during last season’s semi finals.

Wednesdayites made it an S6 occasion to remember and the head coach insists they will be every bit as vital this time around.

Carlos said: “The crowd in semi finals make a big impact, we have experience of this last season.

“We know how much our supporters helped us to beat Brighton.

“We also know exactly what we felt in our bodies when we went to Brighton, especially in the first 20-25 minutes.

“Today was the same at Huddersfield and credit to the crowd for the way they helped their team a lot.

“Our supporters will be crucial for sure.”

Pleased with many aspects of the first leg, he continued: “One purpose of this game was to put the game alive at Hillsborough.

“At the end of the day we now have a final at Hillsborough on Wednesday and we will be ready to the game.

“It was fantastic team work today, the way they played with heart to try to achieve something.

“On Wednesday at 7.45pm, again, it will be 11 players v 11 players with a referee and one ball and we must do our job because I am sure the fans will do theirs.”
