Keep the momentum going

22 April 2017

Owls striker Steven Fletcher says he is happy with Wednesday’s momentum going into the final two games of the season following their 2-1 victory over Derby at Hillsborough.

The Scottish international scored the leveller after the Rams took the lead through Darren Bent, but Gary Hooper’s first goal since his return from injury sealed three vital points for the home side.

Fletcher said: “We’ve got good momentum and we’re playing good football.

“We’re scoring goals and it just shows that if we do go a goal down, we’ve got enough about us to get back in front.

“We’re a good technical side with good players, so we can put on a show as well as getting the three points which is great.

“We’ve always remained upbeat throughout the season, even the players who aren’t playing every week are always working really hard in training.

“The injured players we’ve had are getting back fit at the right time too, obviously Kieran Lee played today and it was good to see him back.

“There’s two more games to go and hopefully we can get the job done on Saturday against Ipswich to be in the play-offs.”
