Keep the run going

17 January 2017

Glenn Loovens has stressed the importance of keeping the current run going and the points tally ticking over.

Wednesday moved five clear in the play-off pack after defeating Huddersfield for the second time this season on Saturday.

The Owls’ run of resistance in the Championship, which consists of six wins and six clean sheets from the last ten games, with just one defeat in that time, will be put to the test on Friday.

A trip to promotion rivals Brighton awaits and Loovens said:

“We have only lost one in our last 10 and that’s a good record for anyone in the Championship.

“It’s another big challenge for us, they like to play football like us and I expect a good game.

“We both like to play good football, both have good players it will be a hard game, there’s no doubt about it.

“Every game is different and we’ll go there with a plan to get a positive result.

“It’s important to be picking up points at all times. We don’t want to look too much around us and I’m sure we’ll be up there at the end of the season.”

He added: “I don’t want to talk about them or the other teams around us too much, we like to focus on ourselves, on the next game and see where we can go.

“It’s another game on Friday and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
