Making history

29 April 2017

Carlos Carvalhal said the Owls were making history following their 1-0 win against Ipswich at Portman Road, their sixth victory in a row.

Kieran Lee’s second half finish secured a play-off spot for Wednesday, meaning they take part in the end of season lottery for the second season in a row.

Carvalhal said: “I am very happy with what we are achieving.

“We are making history at the club, winning six games in a row, beating Ipswich away for the first time since 2012, we’ve also won at QPR since 2000 and beat Derby for the first time in a number of
years this season.

“Today we beat Mick’s side for the first time.

“The support of the chairman, the fans, and of course the staff has helped us to do this.

“Now we will keep focusing on ourselves, we still have a game left to play before the play-offs and we want to win.

“I don’t look to who we will play, or if we will be at home or away first, I just focus on ourselves and see what we can do.”
