Mixed emotions - Carlos reviews Burton draw

7 March 2017

Carlos Carvalhal had mixed emotions following the stalemate with Burton at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.

Whilst disappointed with the 1-1 scoreline, the head coach was pleased with efforts of his players on an ultimately frustrating night in S6.

He said: “I thought we did OK against a team that played with ten players behind the ball for most of the game.

“We had shots, we had crosses, we had 70% of the possession but the only thing we could not do was put the ball into the net for the second goal.

“We were patient, we kept the ball, we kept our shape, but Burton are fighting for their lives so we understand.”

On a night when the lion’s share of promotion hopefuls drew, it’s largely as you were for Wednesday, who travel to Aston Villa on Saturday.

And Carlos is expecting a converse contest at Villa Park, adding:

“This will be a completely different game, more open and two teams who will want to win.

“We will be ready, absolutely sure, and we will go to Aston Villa to play a different match.

“This will be more like the game against Norwich, against Newcastle and against Aston Villa the first time we played them.”
