Moderately happy

Carlos Carvalhal said the fans at Hillsborough will make a big difference in the Owls’ play-off semi final second leg against Huddersfield on Wednesday night.

The Owls drew 0-0 in the first leg at the John Smith’s Stadium and the Yorkshire rivals go into the return game on par.

Carvalhal said: “I am moderately happy today.

“We tried to win the game but both goalkeepers didn’t have much to do in this match.

“But now we can go to Hillsborough and play in front of our fans.

“We always play better when we are at home, this cannot be said for all the teams in the Championship, but for us the supporters make a big difference to our players.”

The head coach also praised the professional nature of the performance, adding:

“We have talked about the efficiency of our game this week and this was a very efficient performance.

“We were disciplined, we limited Huddersfield in the final third but we did not get a goal ourselves so I would say we are moderately happy but not euphoric.”
