Owls aim for cash-free stadium

15 March 2017

Following the launch of electronic payments at till points in late 2016, the Owls are moving steadily towards completely cashless kiosks around Hillsborough.

As the club outlined, the number of card-only payments has gradually increased, and we would like to thank supporters for their co-operation.

The primary aim of this initiative is to reduce queueing time on the concourse areas, thus enhancing the matchday experience and concourse manager Lee Taylor said: “Observing concourse activity during the past few matches, it is clear that queueing times have significantly improved and service is becoming quicker.

“We’ve had some really positive feedback as a result of introducing card payments, which underlines how our supporters are embracing this positive move forward.”

All supporters are encouraged to pay for their pre-match or half time refreshments by contactless card or chip and pin.

More recent games have seen a mixture of cash and card lanes around the stadium and for Friday’s fixture against Reading, the majority of concourse locations will be card-only, with just one till point at selected kiosks processing cash transactions.

Thank you again for your co-operation as we aim to become one of the first cashless concourse stadia in the country.
