Owls in the Park host special charity event!

The Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) are set to take part in this year’s family fun day Owls in the Park and will be hosting their ‘Teddy Parachute Jump’ for the third year running.

The fundraising activity will see hundreds of teddies and toys take part in a sponsored parachute jump off a crane. 

The bears, which will be sponsored £5 by the owner, will be entered into the parachute jump and taken through various fun stages to replicate a real parachute including a departure lounge, flight number and check-in desk!

The charity are looking to collect pre-loved teddy bears to take part you can drop yours off at Yellow Box Storage on Penistone Road between 9-6pm or at SRSB’s centre on 5 Mappin Street between 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Sue Coggin, Fundraising Manager for the charity, said: “Owls in the Park is a great family event and the parachute jump has gone so well over the last two years we want to do it again! 

“We would like to thank Yellow Box Storage for all their help and offering a home to the toys until their parachute adventure on the 17 July!”

All teddy donations will go to a new home and help raise funds for blind and partially sighted children in Sheffield.

The money raised from the event will go towards the charity’s ongoing work to provide opportunity, support, friendship and services to blind and partially sighted people in Sheffield. The charity support more than 3,300 visually impaired people in the city and more than 300 people access the services at the charity’s centre on Mappin Street.

This year’s Owls in the Park takes place on Sunday 17 July at 11am.
