Owls wait on Loovens

13 April 2017

The Owls will wait on the fitness of captain Glenn Loovens ahead of the Good Friday clash with Cardiff.

The skipper was substituted at half time through injury during the Hillsborough win over Newcastle.

But the 33-year-old was back in training on Thursday and hoping to play a part against his former club.

Carlos Carvalhal said: “We have training today and after, we will have a definitive answer. We don’t know yet whether he will be available or not.

“Fernando Forestieri is available, he can be involved in the 18. If the players go to the bench they are ready to play, of course.

“Sam is progressing but is still not available to play. But, as I said in the past, it’s time to give confidence to the players that we have.

“In this moment we are more ready, more confident and more positive than three or four weeks ago when we missed a lot of players.

“The panorama is much better, we played three games since the international break and achieved seven points.”

Buoyed by the points and performance against the Magpies last time out, Carlos added:

“We win confidence form the last game, played near our best standard and now have a tough game on Friday.”
