Resilience saw us through

3 December 2016

Adam Reach was happy with the result as the Owls beat his former team Preston 2-1 at Hillsborough in an action-packed game.

The Owls were 2-0 up after goals from Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher, but the former was later sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

Preston pulled a goal back through Eoin Doyle before he and Beckford were both dismissed for brawling with each other at a time when the Lilywhites were pushing for an equaliser.

Reach said: “It was a crazy game.

“But sometimes games like this happen and I’m just happy we came away with three points.

“Nobody wants to see these things happen in football, but the red cards did relieve a bit of pressure on us at the time.

“However, even without the red cards I think there was more than enough in our team to keep hold of the three points.

“It was a difficult game but it shows the resilience in our team.

“We’re on a good run, seven points from three games, and now we just switch our focus to Saturday against Reading to try and get a good result.”
