Vincent Sasso has re-joined Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent deal from SC Braga for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
Sasso spent the entire 2015/16 campaign on loan at Hillsborough from the Portuguese outfit.
During his season-long stint with Wednesday, the 25-year-old posted 19 appearances in total and proved a valuable addition to the squad.
The Frenchman went from strength to strength during the 2015/16 season and now provides further competition at the heart of the rearguard.
Sasso will wear shirt number 39 during his time at Hillsborough.
He told swfc.co.uk: “I’m really happy to be back and this is better than a loan move for me.
“I know the staff, the club and all the people working here. This helps a lot because I know exactly where I’m coming into and hopefully I can help the team.
“We went from strength to strength last season, it was really good for the fans and a great experience for all the players.
“In part it was difficult for me because I had a small problem with my knee but now I feel 100%.
“I am much more accustomed to the Championship, especially the physical side of the game. I know when the referee will blow his whistle and when he won’t.
“It is different in Europe and where I have been playing my football. I understand the intensity and I know exactly what to expect. There will be no problem for me.”
