Speechless!

28 March 2017

Last week the club announced the design that will form the basis of our 150th anniversary third kit.

We asked Owls supporters to send in their design ideas and after much deliberation Karl Nuttall’s superb proposal was selected.

Web Designer Karl said he was elated when he found out his suggestion had been chosen: “I was at work when I found out.

“I missed the phone call originally, but I rang straight back and when I was told I didn’t know what to say, I was a bit speechless.

“I never had any inkling that it would win, I knew there’d be a lot of entries and a lot of competition.

“It was really well received on social media, it was unreal.

“I’ve been a fan for years, it’s my dad’s fault! I started coming to games when I was seven years old.

“It’ll be surreal to see the players wearing it! We had a daughter in August, so I was going to buy her a kit anyway for her birthday at the start of next season, so if I can get her this one with her name on the back it will be brilliant.”

Karl also played at Hillsborough on Saturday, in the St Luke’s Charity Cup, which raises money for St Luke’s Hospice and the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.

He scored twice for his team, who ran out 5-0 winners on the day to cap off a dream weekend for the Wednesdayite.

He added: “It doesn’t get any better than that. If I’d have scored a third I think I might have retired!”
