Two teams with quality

12 January 2017

Carlos Carvalhal is looking forward to Saturday’s Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield as fourth face sixth in the Championship.

The two play-off rivals go into the clash with good form; the Owls with only one defeat in nine and Huddersfield unbeaten in eight.

In a finely balanced game between two strong Championship sides, Carlos says the home support will be a big factor.

On the game he explained: “Huddersfield are doing really very well, of course they are doing well because they are in a good position.

“But not just the points and the position they have achieved at this moment, but also the quality of the games.

“They are one of the teams with quality, they deserve their position and it will be a tough game. The last three games they have played away, they have won all three.

“But we are Sheffield Wednesday, we are playing in Hillsborough with our fans, we are in sixth position, in nine games we lose just one.”

Wednesday became the first side to leave the John Smith’s Stadium earlier in the season with a maximum haul of points.

The head coach believes his side can achieve the same again from Saturday’s encounter and continued:

“Understanding and respecting our opponents, with our fans behind us we can fight to the three points, absolutely.

“We can achieve this but again, we will need that extra energy from our fans because when the game is more difficult, we need the fans to support the team.”
