Under-18s extend winning run

8 October 2016

The Owls Under-18s made it five wins on the bounce on Saturday with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Huddersfield.

After back to back home wins against Coventry and Leeds, Wednesday made the short hop to Huddersfield and produced another fantastic display to maintain their impressive winning run.

The visitors were ahead from as early as the sixth minute when Joe West’s angled ball into the box was met with a thumping header from Ben Hughes in the middle.

Shortly after the interval, Jordan Lonchar steered home from two yards following a towering Joe Cook header before the hosts responded through Cedwyn Scott.

Wednesday regained their two-goal cushion 15 minutes from time with West catching the hosts off-guard with a superb free kick from out on the right.

As the Terriers lined up in the centre to defend the delivery, West instead opted to go for goal and drilled the ball inside the near post.

And to cap a productive day, Lonchar made absolutely sure of the three points just moments later.

Fraser Preston’s purposeful dart into the box was halted by a mistimed Callum Elliott challenge and Lonchar stepped up to convert from 12 yards.
