Liam Palmer says Wednesday will be keen to issue a positive response after defeat to Brentford.
Trailing 2-0 at the break, the Owls rallied throughout the second half but despite a late Fernando Forestieri goal, the Bees’ held on for the win.
Palmer said: “It was a good response second half and you’re just hoping one of those chances goes in a little bit earlier and then push for the second.
“We showed good character to keep on fighting but we let ourselves down in the first half and we need to start better.
“But even at 2-0 down at half time, we had the belief that we could turn it around and we showed that in the second half.
“That’s the sign of a good group. Their goalkeeper had a magnificent game, five or six top class saves and on another night we could have pulled that deficit back, definitely.”
A trip to Yorkshire rivals Leeds is next for the Owls on Saturday, in front of the Sky cameras.
Only goal difference separates the two promotion rivals in the league table and Palmer added:
“That’s the thing with football, you have to dust yourself down and move on. There is always another game to right the wrongs and there’s no better game than a derby to do so.
“Especially with the position of the two teams in the league, hopefully we can carry on from where we left off in the second half of the Brentford game.”
