Wednesday pass Forest test

18 February 2017

Carlos Carvalhal said he was delighted to get three points against a tough Nottingham Forest side following the Owls’ 2-1 win over the Reds.

Keiren Westwood brought down Ben Brereton to give away a penalty but saved McCormack’s spot-kick.

The Owls promptly went straight up the other end and took the lead when Almen Abdi volleyed from 25 yards out to find the top corner of the Forest net.

Fernando Forestieri made it two when he controlled superbly in the box before tucking the ball home.

Carvalhal said: “Today in my opinion the correct score is 2-1, I think this is a fair result.

“It could have been different if they scored the penalty, but this is football.

“Keiren saved the penalty, this is what the best goalkeepers do, when they don’t have a lot to do during a match, but they do their job when they are needed.

“We achieved the second goal which was important for us.

“We know what we must do when we are winning, so even when the opposition scored, which was a mistake from ourselves, we still stayed calm in the game.

“There are no easy games in the Championship, against Rotherham at home, it took us 90 minutes to score and it was a penalty, so there are no easy matches.

“We played very well and I am happy that we have come here and won the game against a difficult Nottingham Forest team.”
