A good night's work

  • Owls triumph 2-0 at Birmingham on Tuesday
  • Goals from Stevie May and Jeremy Helan
  • Stuart Gray: Let's do it at Hillsborough

With another clean sheet stored and three points to boot, Stuart Gray emerged from St Andrew’s a contented head coach.

Second half goals from Stevie May and substitute Jeremy Helan sealed a 2-0 win at Birmingham and elevated the Owls to seventh in the Championship.

Gray said: “Credit to the players because they faced a different kind of challenge tonight and battled through it to take the points.

“Birmingham were a little direct in the first half and it knocked us sideways a bit so I was pleased to get into the dressing room 0-0.

“The second half was completely different and we deserved the points after that performance.

“Another clean sheet makes that six from nine games and you have to be satisfied with that.”

Gray went on to assert the need to take the Owls’ away pedigree into Hillsborough, starting against Reading on Saturday.

And with prices slashed to £10 and £5 for the Royals clash, Gray is looking forward to getting back on home soil.

He added: “I’m sure there will be a terrific atmosphere at the weekend.

“We’re all hoping for a big crowd and the fans can certainly make the difference.

“We all know we need to take our away form back to Hillsborough. It’s not as if we’re not playing well at home because we are.

“We are strong, we are solid, we are organised and, of course, we want the next win at Hillsborough.”
