A point gained

19 August 2015

Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal was happy to win a point late in the 1-1 draw against Reading and believed his side had got the luck that went against them at the weekend.

Modou Sougou scored in the 90th minute of the game in what had been a quiet attacking display for both sides, after Danny Williams gave the Royals an early second half lead.

Carvalhal said: “Today we didn’t play as well as we can, but I am happy that we got a point rather than dropping two.

“We didn’t get the luck against Ipswich, so I feel we were rewarded with some luck tonight.

“The positive to take out of the game is that the players kept going right to the last minute and were able to get the goal.”

The Portuguese admitted that some performances could have been better against the Royals.

He said: “There were a few players who didn’t keep up the same performance levels as they have done recently.

“When this happens it can be difficult to get a result as you can’t predict that more than two or three players will not put in a great performance.

“But this happens in football, it happens to the best teams, it happens to every team.

“A lot of teams have drawn games this week in the Championship and we have kept up alongside them.”
