For the final time before the international break, Wednesday are at Hillsborough this weekend and looking to make it back to back wins after victory over Oxford in midweek.
Middlesbrough stand in the way of three more points but confidence in the camp is high after progression in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening against Oxford, setting up a third round clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Last season’s beaten play-off finalists Middlesbrough are the current favourites with Sky Bet for promotion this season and will no doubt provide a stern test for the Owls.
But in their last three visits to Hillsborough, Wednesday have won all three meetings and kept clean sheets on each occasion.
Some impressive defensive stats there and on that front, Wednesday have this week bolstered the backline with the loan addition of towering stopper Michael Turner on loan from Norwich City.
Turner is eligible to make his Hillsborough bow on Saturday, while the Owls have no fresh injury concerns.
