After impressing with Wednesday and the Scotland Under-21s, Stevie May’s call-up to the Scotland senior squad represents a big step forward in the striker’s career.

With eight appearances under belt at Under-21 level, May has been knocking on the door for a call-up to Gordon Strachan’s squad and Stuart Gray is delighted for the 21-year-old.

He told swfc.co.uk: “It’s fantastic for the boy. He is just an all-round team player.

“Gordon Strachan was here the other week and I think what he looks for is people who give 100 per cent whatever shirt they are wearing, so it’s great news for him.

“He’s obviously doing something right, coming to Sheffield Wednesday has put him in the limelight.”

Gray added: “He’s scored three good goals and is disappointed because he feels he should have had another two or three.

“But credit to him and I keep saying to the players, the more success they have here , the more call-ups of this nature will follow.”
