Bullen promotion confirmed

14 October 2015

Lee Bullen has been elevated to the first team coaching staff on a permanent basis.

The popular ex-Owls defender had previously managed the Development Squad and split his time between the Under-21s and the first team.

The 44-year-old will now officially join head coach Carlos Carvalhal’s coaching staff at Hillsborough full time.

The transition will be a smooth one for the former Wednesday captain, who has coached within the first team set-up at the club over the past two seasons.

The first team assistant coach worked alongside Carvalhal throughout the summer and into the new campaign and will continue exclusively with his first team duties going forward.

Delighted to finalise his coaching role at Hillsborough, he said: “I don’t think it feels any different, it’s nice having the paperwork to prove it but other than that, it’s no different to the last year and a half.

“I’m now officially the assistant coach to the first team which is great.

“Obviously it was all change in the summer with new philosophies and new ways of doing things but it’s been a great education for me and long may it continue.”
