Coke predicts tough Lions encounter

19 August 2014

  • Giles Coke expects stern test from in-form Millwall
  • Midfielder pleased with four points from six
  • Strong pre-season campaign paying off, says Coke

Midfield man Giles Coke believes Wednesday’s resilient start to the new term will be put to the test by Millwall this evening.

The Lions have won their opening three fixtures and, like the Owls, are yet to concede in all competitions.

He told Wednesday Player: “Millwall have got a good manager, Ian Holloway was at QPR when I was in their youth team and he’s a character.

“He’s proven he’s a top manager and I’ve got no doubt Millwall will be a good test for us and a hard game.”

With four points already on the board, Coke wants the Owls' good run to continue tonight as the Lions make the long trip up north from The Den.

The start to the campaign is something that has encouraged Coke, who added: “The last few seasons we haven’t started so well and it’s hard to come back after that.

“It’s still very early but it’s nice to hear the recognition.

“We had a good pre-season and were prepared and that has shown.

“I’ve been here a few years now and I’d like to think this is the best squad I’ve played with. We have a great team spirit, the boys all get along and its showing.

“I’m enjoying my football and when the manager picks me, I’ll be ready to play.

“I want to be as consistent as possible and score more goals. It’s always nice to score goals and its important the midfielders help the strikers.”
