Community Programme hosts ‘Made in Sheffield’ students

9 November 2015

Students from three Sheffield schools are taking part in a ‘Made in Sheffield’ project in conjunction with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and last week they visited Hillsborough as part of their studies.

More than 30 participants from Firth Park Academy, Stocksbridge High School and Westfield School are taking part in the two year initiative that aims to improve team work, communication, decision making and organisational skills. The project see’s young people become ‘cultural ambassadors’ for the project and their school.

As part of the project the students last week enjoyed a stadium tour of Hillsborough and looked into the different skills people who work for the club have. The students also took part in team building games and activities to help improve their team work and communication skills.

Chris Edwards, a representative from the Made in Sheffield project, said: “The students had a great day and I’d like to say thanks to everyone at the Community Programme for making this happen.  Everyone learnt a lot and it was particularly benefiting to go on the ground tour of the stadium to get a real insight into the workings of a professional football club.”
