Congratulations Chris!

Lifelong Wednesdayite Chris Heeley successfully completed the annual London to Amsterdam cycle challenge on behalf of the Football League’s official charity partner, Prostate Cancer UK.

Chris, together with fellow Owl Richard Stuart, represented Wednesday last weekend and everyone at the club would like to thank the duo for their efforts.

The 100-mile challenge kicked off from the home of Leyton Orient in the capital and ended across Europe at The Amsterdam ArenA, home of Ajax.

Chris, who also cycled for Wednesday in 2014, told swfc.co.uk: “Over 50 clubs were represented in the ride with 260 riders. As per last year, it was a great event where regular cyclists and some who'd hardly seen a bike before helped each other along the route with a fantastic team spirit and camaraderie.

“We set off from Leyton Orient early last Friday morning, arriving at Ajax Amsterdam ArenA at tea time on Saturday. The donations between everyone had reached over £300,000 by the time we sat down to a celebratory meal on the Saturday night, which is a fantastic amount.

“I'd like to thank the Wednesdayites that have donated so far, most of which I've never even met. The donations go a long way in fighting Prostate Cancer.”

Last year, the North Stand Season Ticket holder raised a hugely impressive £2,350 and is aiming to surpass that total this time round.

Congratulations Chris – now get off your bike and take a well-deserved rest!
