Dejphon Chansiri thanks Wednesdayites

20 July 2015

Dejphon Chansiri has spoken of his ‘incredible weekend’ following scenes in York on Saturday and at the club’s annual Owls in the Park event 24 hours later.

A sell-out visiting contingent followed the Owls to Bootham Crescent, before the whole Wednesday family came together as one at the hugely successful community fun day in Hillsborough Park.

Reflecting on an amazing two days, the Owls’ chairman said: “Before I came here, I was told of the passion of Sheffield Wednesday supporters and the love they have for their club.

“I saw that for myself in the games last season, at Hillsborough and away from home. But I have to say, I have just had an incredible weekend and seen some things I have never seen before.

“Saturday’s game at York was only a pre-season friendly but we could hardly move our car driving away from the ground after the game because of our supporters lining the road.

“I saw many fans coming up close wanting to take pictures and I thought it would be impolite if I did not step out of the car and stand alongside them.

“It was like a victory parade and it just made me feel so much how I just want to deliver the success they all deserve.

He continued: “Again, I was told of the scenes at Owls in the Park before but until you see for yourself, you cannot really grasp the enormity of what this club means to so many people.

“Supporters wanted to shake my hand but when I see the Sheffield Wednesday family together this way, I just wanted to shake theirs.

“The desire and warmth is there for everyone to see and I would like to thank them all.

“This weekend has made me happy and even more ambitious and determined to take us all the way to the Premier League.”
