Drenthe welcomes capital clash

21 October 2014

Royston Drenthe is pleased that Wednesday will make a quick return to action in the Championship and avoid a seven-day wait before the next fixture.

The loanee has said a major positive about the division is the nature of the fixture list, with games coming thick and fast.

And after defeat to Watford on Saturday, Drenthe welcomes an early opportunity to bounce back and said:

“The beautiful thing about this competition is that you get the chance to put results right quickly.

“It’s a hard league, you have to play a lot of games but the good thing is, you can get back out on the pitch very quickly.

“We are sportsmen and we don’t want to lose games. Saturday was disappointing but we will come back stronger and I am confident we can get the three points Tuesday.”

Having made an impression following his introduction from the bench on Saturday, Drenthe is keen to contribute in the midweek capital clash.

He passionately told swfc.co.uk: “Everybody knows what I am capable of and what I can do.

“I will always play to my best in whatever position the manager wants me to.

“We will see whether I am starting or not on Tuesday. Whether I’m in the team or on the bench, I will always give everything for my team mates and the team.

“That’s who I am as a footballer.”
