  • Owls travel to Burnley in Capital One Cup
  • Second round clash at Turf Moor on Tuesday
  • Stuart Gray returns to old stamping ground

Stuart Gray has spoken of his ambitions to succeed in knockout competition as the Owls prepare to face Burnley at Turf Moor in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

In-form Wednesday head over the Pennines unbeaten so far this season and Gray is aiming to emerge with that run of resistance intact from the second round clash.

He said: “The cups are important to me, they were as a player and they are now.

“I want to win every game in which Sheffield Wednesday play and we will be going to Burnley set up to win the tie.

“I know the place very well and I am looking forward to going back there.”

Gray is a former first team coach and caretaker manager of the Clarets but there will be no room for sentiment when he revisits Turf Moor.

He added: “Burnley are a great club, they have done ever so well under Sean Dyche but I want to win the game.

“They are now a Premiership club, they thoroughly deserved their promotion last season.

“We go into the tie on the back of a really impressive performance against Middlesbrough on Saturday, our supporters will be out in numbers and hopefully we can progress to the next stage of the competition.”
