A Sheffield Wednesday fan who won a unique collection of Owls prizes on Boxing Day has donated his Half Season Ticket to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Young Owl Evan Copeland, aged seven, hit the jackpot when he found the Golden Ticket inside his matchday programme.
A single edition produced for the Blackpool clash contained the Golden Ticket and Evan was lucky enough to be the one who found it!
As well as the Half Season Ticket, the Golden Ticket granted Evan an array of Wednesday goodies, including a fully signed home and away shirt, matchday hospitality, a subscription to Wednesday Player – and the whole package presented by a player of his choice.
Already a Season Ticket holder, Evan and dad Richard decided to donate his Half Season Ticket to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice – official charity partner of the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.
Owls star Jose Semedo made the presentation last Saturday to Evan, who in turn handed the Half Season Ticket to young patient Courtney, representing Bluebell Wood.
The ticket will allow a Bluebell Wood patient and carer to attend every game at Hillsborough for the rest of the season, with the Community Programme generously doubling the prize!
Gail Smedley from Bluebell Wood said: “Thank you so much to Evan and to Sheffield Wednesday for donating the tickets to Bluebell Wood. It will give me the opportunity to bring someone to each match who wouldn’t normally get to go due to their illness or condition.
“Last week I brought along one of our patients, Courtney - she really enjoyed herself and it was her first ever football match! We’d love to invite Evan and his family to the hospice so he can meet some of the people who will be using the tickets.”
The Owls’ Director of Communications Trevor Braithwait added: “The Golden Ticket certainly captured the imagination of our supporters, who bought the programme in their droves on Boxing Day.
“We were delighted for Evan when he contacted us to claim his prize and even more pleased when he and Richard decided to donate the Half Season Ticket to Bluebell Wood.
“It’s a wonderful story all round and we will certainly be repeating the Golden Ticket challenge next season.”
