Flying the flag for the Owls!

6 April 2016

A lifelong Sheffield Wednesday supporter is set to break a new world record next month as he prepares to climb Mount Everest and perform a stand-up comedy show at an altitude of 5,000 metres.

Owls fan and comedian Tom Wrigglesworth will embark on the nine day trek, ‘Stand up on Everest’, on Thursday 7 April when he will be joined by three comedy comrades Wayne Deakin, Martin Mor and Mickey D.

Tom will be representing Wednesday by donning his Owls shirt and planting a club flag at the top of Mount Everest!

The comedy group will perform on a purpose-built stage to their fellow climbers awaiting their turn to take on the world’s highest mountain.

Tom said: “It’s going to be a tough challenge but it will be worth it when we get there. Save the Children are a great charity and the trek will hopefully raise lots of money and awareness for the cause.

“As a massive fan, it is my pleasure to represent Sheffield Wednesday and plant the flag at the top of the mountain and I can’t wait to see the blue and white colours when we’re up there!”

He added: “It will be a great achievement and to say we’ve broken a world record at the same time as helping a worthy cause will be amazing.”

Good luck, Tom!
