Sheffield Wednesday have signed Matty Fryatt on an emergency loan from Premiership outfit Hull City.

The striker has joined the Owls for 28 days.

Fryatt, 27, linked up with the Tigers in January 2011 for a reported £1.2m having impressed at Leicester City, for whom he scored 63 goals from 153 starts.

He boasted an impressive strike rate for first club Walsall too, posting 30 goals from 55 starts in the Midlands.

In total, the hitman has started 285 senior games, with 119 goals to his name.

The Nuneaton product also boasts a string of goalscoring records, including the fastest ever strike for Leicester and Walsall after finding the net inside ten seconds for both clubs.

In addition, Fryatt was the first Foxes player in 42 years to score 20 goals before Christmas in the 2008/09 campaign and became the first in 83 years to fire hat-tricks in successive games.

Fryatt has been allocated shirt number 28 for his stint at Hillsborough and is eligible for the Owls’ home clash with Doncaster Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
