Good to get that feeling back

5 October 2014

A thumping first time hit in a live televised derby clash was the perfect way for Chris Maguire to get back on the scoresheet.

The forward hadn’t registered since netting at Hillsborough against Millwall in August but Maguire was delighted to hit the back of the net at Elland Road on Saturday.

The Owls and Leeds shared the spoils, drawing 1-1, with the Scot on target for the visitors.

He said: “It’s good to get back in that feeling of scoring goals again. I felt it was coming, I’ve had a few shots in the last few games.

“I’ve been getting closer and thankfully at Leeds, it flew in the bottom corner so I’m delighted with that.

“I knew myself I needed another goal to kick-start my season and thankfully it has come and now I want to kick on after the international break.

“Scoring goals is a fantastic feeling and it’s great that one has come for me but I’d be as happy setting up one of my team mates to score and we get the three points.”

Now 11 games into the season, Maguire believes Wednesday can take great confidence from what they have produced.

The Owls have racked up 17 points and are handily placed in the Sky Bet Championship table.

He continued: “We have got to take huge confidence from our season so far. We’ve only been beaten twice and the signs are there that we can continue climbing the table.”
