Stuart Gray has explained the first half withdrawal of loan striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher from Saturday’s stalemate with Rotherham.
The Leicester man was looking lively during the early throes of the game and almost gave Wednesday the lead before a freak injury dictated his departure.
Gray said: “I thought Gary had a bright start and he came ever so close to scoring with a shot that rolled just the wrong side of the post.
“But then he’s gone up for a challenge and their lad has caught Gary’s eye with a fingernail and he couldn’t see properly out of that eye so had to come off.
“He went to hospital for a check-up so we’re hoping for good news.”
