Happy memories for Jose

  • Jose Semedo reflects fondly on last visit to Brentford
  • Owls became promotion favourites in 2011/12 following 2-1 win
  • Midfield man expecting tough test at Griffin Park

Owls midfielder Jose Semedo has happy memories of Wednesday’s last trip to Brentford.

As one of the most fiercely contested promotion battles in recent history went down to the wire, Wednesday posted three huge points at Griffin Park.

The Owls, of course, went on to finish the job in style and return to the second tier in 2011/12 and Semedo has said that period ranks at the top of his career highlights.

He said: “I will always remember the last time we went there, it was a very happy time, we won 2-1 and it was the day the promotion race went in our favour.

“It was the one before the final game and we got in front of Sheffield United and the players will never forget that day.

“That period was the best time of my career and I will never forget it.

“I believe there will be more highlights like that for us again.”

The combative midfielder, though, is wary of the Bees’ threat this time around on Tuesday.

The West London outfit have adapted well to life in the Championship following their automatic promotion last term.

As the Bees sit one point ahead of Wednesday, Semedo added: “It’s a tough place to go.

“I have played there at least three times in my career and it has always been a difficult place.

“But I think we are a much better side this season. In my opinion, there is no doubt we are much stronger than two years ago and even one year ago."
