Carlos Carvalhal was happy with his side’s performance as the Owls turned in a spirited display against Braga in Portugal on Friday evening.
Wednesday lost out by the odd goal in three but had every reason to feel hard done by having shared possession in the first half and bossed proceedings after the break.
He told swfc.co.uk: “I am happy because overall we played very well and it was very good training for us. The opposition were very strong. They played their first-team and showed good quality.
"In the first half, the wind was very strong so we had some difficulties. They pressed us in the first 30 minutes and we had some problems. But we created two or three good chances.
"In the second half, we played with the wind from our back. We pressed for 45 minutes. We created more chances. We were very good in the second half. We caused Braga some big problems.
"They only had one chance in the second half and we gave away the corner.
"But as I have told you, the score is not important. It is important we learn from mistakes we made.”
He continued: "We did some good things and I'm very happy because a lot of things we are working in training are coming.
“But there are some mistakes we must correct. We can't give a goal away like that from a set piece.
"We will play Farense tomorrow in a training game, not a proper game, and give more time to our players and give them more rhythm.”
Carvalhal also issued a brief report on Keiren Westwood, who was taken off feeling the effects of a foot injury 13 minutes into the game.
He said: "I hope it is not important. We took him off as a precaution and we will see.”
