Here to have a positive impact

Stuart Gray is predicting big things for new loan recruit Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who made his debut from the bench in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Norwich.

The Leicester man joined the Owls on Saturday and was introduced as a second half substitute at Hillsborough.

Gray said: “He did OK when he came on and might have had a goal. He just said to me that he was disappointed he didn’t put his foot through the chance he got.

“But he was there in the first place and I am pleased to get Gary in the building because I’ve been after him for some time.

“We had him here the summer before last for three weeks and I liked what I saw then.

“I saw him play in a pre-season friendly for Leicester against Rotherham this summer and I thought he did really well.

“His fitness is good and he’s not the kind of player who just sits back and takes his money, he wants to play and make a difference and that’s why he has come to Sheffield Wednesday.”

Gray says the vast amount of experience Taylor-Fletcher will bring to S6 can only have a positive impact.

The 33-year-old has over 100 goals to his name, in addition to a proven pedigree spanning over 15 years.

Gray added: “It’s the experience Gary has that can make the difference.

“We have a relatively young strike force and sometimes having that older head on the pitch to point you in the right direction, to have a quick word of advice, can make all the difference.

“He’s here for a month initially, I know exactly what he can do and I am certain he can make a positive impact.”
