Joe delighted with debut
Joe Wildsmith has said he will remember every minute of his debut following Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Mansfield at Hillsborough.The Owls’ academy product made his first appearance for the club in Tuesday night’s 4-1 Capital One Cup win over the Stags.
Wildsmith reviewed the victory and said: “It was brilliant. Being a Sheffield Wednesday fan, it’s what you dream about as a kid - your first game for the club.
“And to get a 4-1 win was incredible. That topped it off and I loved every minute of it.
“I thought it went well and as far as debuts go, like I said, I will remember every minute it.”
Wednesday will now go into the draw for the second round which takes place on Thursday evening and Wildsmith added:
“Andy Rhodes told me I was in for the cup game, he has always put his faith in me and I can only thank him for that.
“All my family were here and my friends too and being a Sheffield lad, it was just a special day.
“Playing Under-21s is not the same as playing at a stadium and this has made me just want it even more.”
