Improving on all fronts

When reflecting on the season, Stuart Gray believes there have been vast improvements across the board.

The Owls can finish as high as ninth in the division and the head coach has seen plenty to build on going forward.

Now three seasons back at this level, the club have shown progression with each passing season and Gray says that will continue and accelerate under new chairman Dejphon Chansiri, along with the experience of Glenn Roeder and Adam Pearson, who were both appointed this week.

He said: “We have two important games to go and then we will all sit down and say, ‘what is the best way forward to get this club in the Premier League?’

“In the past few seasons, it has been cut and dried who is going up. This season it could be any two of four going automatically.

“We have had a big say taking points off Brentford and Bournemouth and we will have another on the last day at Watford.

“Once those two games have been played, then we will sit down and discuss the best way to take this club forward.

“You want to see gradual improvement season after season and we have seen that this season.

“Where we have let ourselves down is in front of goal and when I evaluate, I’ll be frustrated thinking we could be a lot higher.

“But it’s important to improve and look at all aspects. That’s the reason why Adam and Glenn have come in. it’s not just on the pitch, it’s off the pitch as well where we need to move Sheffield Wednesday forward.”
