Isgrove enjoying Owls spell

13 April 2015

As Wednesday prepare to host play-off hopefuls Brentford on Tuesday, Lloyd Isgrove is looking forward to the test and says he is enjoying his Hillsborough spell.

The Southampton product has been thrown in at the deep end and named in the starting line-up for the Owls’ previous four games.

The pacey winger has earned plaudits during his short spell and wants to show Wednesdayites what he has in his locker for the remaining games.

He said: “I’ve settled in really well and feel like I’ve been here all season really.

“I feel like I’ve played well but there is more to come, I haven’t scored my first goal yet and that is something I want to put right.

“You can play 21s to a stage but I’m 22 now and at my age the most important thing is playing games and that’s the way you will improve most.”

Brentford will represent a tough challenge for the Owls on Tuesday with the Bees looking to clinch a play-off spot.

But Isgrove believes there is still plenty of incentive too for Wednesday, as he explained:

“I think that teams can lay down solid foundations for the future with a positive end to the season and that’s what we have to aim for.

“As players, we all just want to go out there and win football matches.

“We want to play attacking football, excite the fans and win games. Our next challenge is a tough one, no doubt about it but we want to win.

“They’re trying to get as many points as they can because they are pushing for promotion and it’s so tight at the top.

“They’ll come here looking to do anything they can to get the win but we have to focus on our game and get the result.”
