It could have been any of the boys

Proud to be included in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, Barry Bannan says it could have been any number of his team mates selected.

Bannan has enjoyed a terrific maiden campaign at Hillsborough and has helped the club reach the Sky Bet Championship play-offs for the first time since relegation from the top flight 16 years ago.

The PFA Championship XI is selected by the players themselves and the in-form midfielder said:

“It’s great when you’re getting recognised by the players you are playing against week in, week out.

“It gives you that buzz but it could have been any of the boys in our team as well.

“Luckily it was me but it’s good to know that the other players you play against admire the way you play.”

A firm favourite with the fans too, Bannan says he is enjoying every minute out on the pitch playing for the supporters.

“It’s great,” he continued. “I’ve said all along the fans have been brilliant with me and they keep singing my name.

“Like I said before, it gives the whole team an edge when you hear them chanting but when you hear them singing your name it gives you that bit extra.”
