Junior mascots lead the Owls at The Etihad

25 September 2014

  • Junior mascots lead Wednesday out at The Etihad
  • Once in a lifetime opportunity for the mascots
  • Exclusive prize enjoyed by young Owls

As well as leading the Wednesday team out, each Player Escort played on the pitch against the opposition’s mascots at half time, a game which saw the young Owls win 2-1.

Leading the Owls out on to the Etihad pitch were Louisa Dean, Jay Birkin, Jack Priestlet, Finlay Edge, Zach Longden, Georgia Taylor, Thomas West, Rudi Robinson, Loui Ashton. Ashton Rollitt and Kian Holland.

The mascots, who were all either Junior Season Ticket Holders or Junior Members, enjoyed the evening by walking the team out of the tunnel and meeting players from both sides.

Eleven lucky young Owls were given the chance to lead Wednesday out at The Etihad last night after they won an exclusive Sheffield Wednesday Facebook competition.

Finlay Edge, aged 11 who has been a Full Season ticket holder for 8 years, said: “Walking out Sheffield Wednesday at Manchester City’s ground was amazing! It was so good to meet my favourite players and to experience walking out onto the pitch.

All in all, a fantastic opportunity for the young Owls – and something they will never forget!

Each junior also got to bring a parent or guardian with them to enjoy the experience.

“We got to play at half-time as well which was really fun! It was so good because I scored for us which meant we won 2-1 against their junior mascots! I’ll never forget the experience of playing football as part of Sheffield Wednesday at The Etihad Stadium!”
