Keep the momentum going

22 August 2014

  • Owls visit Middlesbrough on Saturday
  • Wednesday unbeaten in four games so far
  • Stuart Gray urges players to keep momentum

Stuart Gray has urged his players to maintain their encouraging start to the new season against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Owls head to The Riverside Stadium unbeaten in their first three league games, with Capital One Cup success along the way.

And Gray feels that life could and should have been even rosier in S6:

“I should be sitting here talking about at least two wins from three, if not all three.

“We got the win at Brighton then might have beaten Derby and certainly should have beaten Millwall on Tuesday.

“So while I am pleased with the start we have made, it could have been even better.

“But credit to the players, they have done the hard work, they are unbeaten in four and now we aim to make that five on Saturday.”

The Owls’ head coach is expecting a stern test against a Boro side who have also kicked off the campaign well.

The Teessiders sit two places and one point above Wednesday, who will leapfrog their hosts with victory.

Gray added: “Middlesbrough have also had a good start. They were unlucky to lose against Leeds but have won their other two games.

“But we will be going there to win. Any team I set up will be sent out to win the game.

“But if we don’t win, we take the point we start with.

“We want to keep the momentum going.”
