Sheffield Wednesday youngster Caolan Lavery has joined League 2 side Southend United on a youth loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old is eligible to feature in Paul Sturrock’s side this weekend as the Shrimpers face Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium.
Lavery joined the Owls’ Development Squad in summer 2012 and has impressed for the SWFC Under-21s throughout the first half of the season - becoming a regular on the scoresheet.
The striker will now head to Roots Hall and aid Southend in their push for promotion with the club just two points adrift of the play-off positions.
