Loan ace keen to get started

19 January 2016

Owls new loan recruit Joe Bennett says he is keen to get started at Hillsborough and show the supporters exactly what he can do.

The Villa loanee is excited to join in-form Wednesday and has told swfc.co.uk his aim is to help the team continue their winning ways.

With experience at Championship level already under his belt with Brighton and Middlesbrough, Bennett feels in good shape and is ready to hit the ground running.

He said: “I’m looking forward to this move and getting games under my belt.

“The team are doing really well at the minute, they have got good players and I’ve watched them play a number of times this season.

“Hopefully I can come here and help the team push for promotion. I’ve heard a lot about the fans, they support the team in their numbers and I’m looking forward to experiencing that.”

Bennett will be available for the Owls’ trip to Reading at the weekend.

The 25-year-old has stiff competition for a place in the Wednesday rearguard but is confident he can hit form at Hillsborough.

He added: “Whichever club you go to there is always going to be competition for places. That keeps you on your toes.

“I know my duties defensively but I like to be creative, I have a lot of energy and I’m keen to show the Wednesday fans what I can do.

“You always want to join clubs that are doing well and looking to push forward and that is exactly what Sheffield Wednesday are doing.

“The team are on a good run and picking up points and I want to help the team continue to do that.”
